On June 1, 1965 Thalgon Teacher Training School was opened in Thalgon Township, Pyay District, Pegu Division. On May 1, 1996 the Thalgon Teacher Training School was moved to Magway Division and opened as a Magway Teacher Training School. On 1st December, 1998 the Magway Teacher Training School was opened as a Level 2 Education College. On September 12, 2002 Magway Education College Level 2 was upgraded to Level 1 Education College.
